6ix9ine's Return with 'Gooba'

New York rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine is a controversial figure to say the least. From his online antics to his explicit music 6ix9ine is certainly an acquired taste.

After a rocky 2019 spent between court rooms and jail cells, 6ix9ine is back on our computer screens causing havoc and running riot on social media once again. After having 'snitched' on his entire crew (the 'Nine Trey Bloods' of Brooklyn) putting a multitude of his former criminal associates in prison, the rapper has come back with a bang breaking an Instagram live record by attracting a staggering two million viewers to his first Instagram live since being released from jail.

During this Instagram live he declared, once again, that he is the king of New York and, in an ostentatious fashion, continuously bragged about his wealth. However, despite a vast range of emotions and clamour he did issue and apology to his family and his fans. He also promoted his new single release titled 'Gooba'.

If you were expecting any type of moral growth or change in 6ix9ine's demeanour after his legal battles, 'Gooba' does not offer that. 6ix9ine's seems to be as rowdy as ever on his track, his delivery just as brash and his lyrics just as violent. Despite his label as a snitch he continues to rap about guns, pulling drive-by's and as always females.

The beat for 'Gooba' is a stereo-typical 6ix9ine beat. It is a very aggressive very punchy trap beat that frequently cuts out and returns even louder and more brutal on the ears.

The video for 'Gooba', which was apparently shot in the rappers garage, is rainbow crazy with some even comparing it to a skittles advert. During the video, the rappers head transforms into a rat emoji, the rappers way of taunting those who have labelled him a rat (snitch).

Although the music video broke a youtube record for most views acquired within a 24hr period, it does not deliver anything we have not seen from 6ix9ine before. Whether or not 6ix9ine will continue to be embraced is yet to be seen but this latest single release is just above average.
