Between the 24th May – 26th May, this year, we were all treated to a televised festival. The BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend and we're picking out our 3 favourite performances.
3. Dave
At number three we have Dave. With his young energy and charisma, his performance was nothing short of electrifying. Taking the crowd up and then down again with his well curated set list, Dave's appearance at the 'Big Weekend' was what you would expect from the young prodigy.
2. Sean Paul & Stefflon Don
With both artists bringing their original Jamaican vibes to the 'Big Weekend', we got quite a show out of Sean Paul and Stefflon Don as they performed 'Boasty', a Wiley song they both feature on along with Idris Elba. The song is a personal favourite and was mentioned in the first Viber & Gang podcast. With a refreshing sound, outside of Trap, outside of Electronic Dance Music and outside of Indie Rock it provided that much needed variation to 'Radio 1's Big Weekend'.
1. Stormzy
Stormzy was one of the most highly anticipated perfomances of the 'Big Weekend', and, in true Stormzy style, he did not disappoint. Although I am not a fan of 'Vossi Bop', Stormzy's latest single, you can only applaud Stormzy's effort as he delivers his live performance. Always sweating, always putting in 110% and last but not least always making sure his live show captures each and every person present. Engaging with the crowd, riling the youth and creating an unparalleled sense of energy, Stormzy takes the top spot for 'Radio 1's Big Weekend' 2019.
