It has been no secret that over the years Cardi B and Offset have had a tumultuous relationship. From the swirling rumours of infidelity to the unforgiving media scrutiny Cardi is under, it seems that the 27-year old rapper has had enough as she officially files for divorce.
The ex power couple married secretly in September 2017, with their baby 'Kulture' being born the following year, however, since then, the couple have obviously grown apart and have ultimately reached a place of no return.
Several media outlets are claiming this divorce is as a result of Offset cheating on Cardi with the well-known model Summer Bunni who is currently pregnant. However, Summer Bunni was quick to set the record straight declaring she is in fact pregnant by NFL player Chauncey Gardner Johnson. Regardless, media outlets are continuing to push this far more scandalous version of events.
The shocking news broke on Wednesday 16th when it was officially confirmed that Cardi had indeed filed for divorce, one day prior, in Fulton County Georgia. The divorce papers, which are public record, are said to be requesting "primary physical custody" as well as "financial support and maintenance". Although this is true, Cardi claims that this was not her request, but had to be included in her filing by Georgia state law .
Not only does the filing state that the ex-weds are currently living in a "bona fide state of separation" but also states that their marriage is "irretrievably broken". A divorce hearing has been set for November 4th at 10am.
This filing comes only weeks after the rappers latest single 'WAP' debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 100. It is also No.1 on the UK singles charts currently and has held the top spot for two consecutive weeks. Hailed by some as a feminist masterpiece, others have criticised it as an example of female objectification. However, we doubt Cardi will be paying any attention to these claims as her once perfect marriage is officially ending.
