Frictions' - 'Lost it Mode'

Drum 'n' Bass producer has just released his new single 'Lost it Mode' which features vocals from MC vocals from artist Linguistics.

The track is your standard Drum 'n' Bass single. The track is not experimental but it was refreshing to hear a rap style vocal on a Drum 'n' Bass track. I feel nowadays producers try to insert a lot more singing into their compositions as opposed to rappers.

As for instrumentation, there is not a lot I can tell you that you wouldn't already be familiar with. Standard D'n'B drum pattern with an open hi-hat entering during the chorus. As for melody we're hearing those aggressive distorted medium attack synthesizers. These are the bread and butter of the Drum 'n' Bass genre.

However, the intro is very alien-like with sequenced squares and pads taking the forefront as the filtered drums begin to rise and eventually drop us into the mix.

Linguistics delivery on this track reminds me of something you would hear from Damon Albarn when I heard it I thought of Gorillaz and Park Life if it was sped up.

Overall a decent track. I am a fan of artists that push the boundaries but this is a solid Drum 'n' Bass song not to be over analysed.
