This summer, London was full of excitement, energy and entertainment as all of the festivals, block parties and summer blowouts hit the capital.
With some of the hottest temperatures on record hitting the capital it is no wonder the youth came out on mass to hit the town and enjoy the capital's festivities.
Of course, one of the most anticipated events was London's Wireless festival. This year we saw performances from the likes of Stefflon Don, Future and Skepta among others. Although there may not have been blue skies, the festival still attracted thousands and was a fantastic kickoff to the London summer. Skepta's 2019 album 'Ignorance is Bliss' certainly handed us some festival worthy singles which were received well by the London crowd but with Stefflon Don bringing her signature Jamaican Dancehall vibes to the stage, it was almost as if she brought that Caribbean sunshine with her. See below the highlights of day one with a 360 degree view.
With July providing a mish-mash of large scale and small-scale festivals including the likes Lovebox, Innervisions and British Summer Time one could only look forward to August with it's heavy line up of events.
On that note we moved into August and onto one of the most popular London based festivals. South West Four. A medium-sized festival held on Clapham Common in South West London. This year's lineup included some very heavy hitters including the likes of Wiley, Tinie Tempah, Martin Garrix and Chase & Status. South West Four always provides an eclectic mix of artists and this year was no different. With five different stages, festival-goers were spoilt for choice. From indie rock to EDM and from Pop to Grime there really was no way anyone could go wrong. Check out Martin Garrix's night-time DJ set on the main stage below.
We couldn't finish the summer madness without a splash of colour though could we and that's when the legendary Notting Hill Carnival (the biggest street festival in Europe) hits West London to nicely round off the city's summer. With a real emphasis on Caribbean culture, Notting Hill Carnival really showcases the loud, colourful and vibrant culture of the Caribbean people who are a key part of the city's rich history. Every year, that often overlooked and ignored culture takes over the streets of Notting Hill and the black community along with others pour out onto the streets to re-affirm the cities cultural diversity with a melange of flags, music, food and colourful costumes.
