SPOTLIGHT: Meet BenjiFlow

So it was an average day and i am scrolling through instagram stories as per usual and all of a sudden i heard a song. It was afro-swing but it didn't sound like anything i had heard before. That's when i first heard about BenjiFlow.

The song was called 'Deep End'. Now to my surprise it hasn't accumulated many views on youtube but i am truly desperate to hear what BenjiFlow is going to release next.

For me BenjiFlow puts the 'Afro' back in Afroswing. For me Afroswing is becoming more Americanised with more 808's, hi-hats and more short crisp snare hits. Deepflow ditches the hi-hats and rides a grainy shaker groove taking us back to Africa. It has a woody rimshot and the bass is minimal not a trap 808 which engulfs and swallows up the rest of the record. I really feel this man is under the radar and although there is not and endless catalogue this alone gives me faith that there are forward thinking musicians out there re-inventing sounds rather than just dropping mediocre videos on Linkup.
