Stefflon Don's - 'Don Walk'

Stefflon Don has definitely been making moves both in the UK and US. She was a XXL Freshman last year and has continued to make waves with her music. She most recently featured on Wiley's single 'Boasty' featuring Idris Elba and Sean Paul, but her most recent solo single 'Don Walk' is a monster hit.

Stefflon Don is well known for her effortless fusion of UK culture and Jamaican Dancehall culture and she showcases her dual heritage fantastically in her material both audibly and visually.

Her latest release 'Don Walk' samples a 90's R&B classic, 'No Scrubs' by TLC. However, this track is not an R&B track. Stefflon Don puts her own spin on this sample turning it into an infectious dancehall jam, perfect for the summer. From her Jamaican patois lyrics to the heavy bass 'Don Walk' reclaims the sample causes it to transcend genres leaving us with an authentic Jamaican sounding jam. The production of this song is smart because the familiarity of this sample means listeners who may not understand the lyrics will not completely alienated by the track.
