Wiley Wins Ivors 'Inspiration Award' 2019

The Godfather of Grime, Wiley won big at this years Ivor Novello awards picking up the Ivors 'Inspiration Award'.
Wiley dedicated the award to his father who was also in attendance explaining how his father's influence was key in regards to him following his dreams in music.
Wiley, in an interview after winning the award explained how Dizzee Rascal was another key player in helping him achieve legend status and explained that both Dizzee and Kano gave him hope at the start that Grime could spread outside of the East London area and eventually worldwide.
Grime MC Ghetts was also in attendance as a nominee for 'Best Contemporary Song'. His single 'Black Rose' featuring Kojey Radical has gained critical acclaim as a song empowering black women, a topic rarely touched upon within the Grime genre.
Although he did not win, the nomination shows music industry progression and is a sign of acknowledgement. However, Wiley's win shows that with hard work and a passion for music anybody can achieve their dreams.
