Will Lil Nas X make 2020??

Breakout rapper Lil Nas X has had quite the year with his hit country-rap song 'Old Town Road' ( and its remixes) breaking chart records as well as starting race debate regarding country as it was taken off the Billboard Country Charts.

However after the hype has died down will Lil Nas x be able to diversify? His follow up single Panini performed relatively well in the Billboard charts but some may argue a lot of that was off the back of 'OId Town Road' hype.

With 2020 fast approaching the main question is will the breakout rapper be relevant this time next year or will his music career be a short lived drama filled one?

The same question could be asked of L.A. rapper Blueface whose chart topper 'Thotiana' and its remix featuring YG and Cardi B became a 2019 trap anthem.

Will Blueface's offbeat flow remain interesting or will it quickly become a gimmick and will Lil Nas X's country hip-hop fusion be able to see him an album or will his portfolio start sounding homogenous?

Our prediction is Blueface's career will be a short-lived one with 'Thotiana' looked back as the one hit of a one hit wonder who faced the curse of short-term music industry virality.

As for Lil Nas X I think there's still a way to go before he is completely forgotten about, however, I can't see the country element to his music being stretched out anymore than it has already.

As the new year approaches, new music is inevitably on the way and with 2019 having provided fans with some interesting releases such as Skepta's 'Ignorance is Bliss' and Tyler the Creator's 'Igor', we at Viber are eagerly awaiting 2020.
